BART Warm Springs Extension

Warm Springs Extension

Warm Springs Extension | Bay Area Regional Transit
Location: Fremont, CA
Client: Kiewit Pacific
Construction Cost: $890,000,000
The Warm Springs Extension will add 5.4 miles of new tracks from the existing Fremont Station south to a new station in the Warm Springs district of the City of Fremont. The new Warm Springs Extension alignment will parallel portions of the Union Pacific railroad corridor, which contains the former Western Pacific and Southern Pacific railroad tracks, and Interstates 680 and 880 in southern Alameda County. The Warm Springs Station will feature an at-grade island platform with an overhead concourse, intermodal access to Valley Transit Authority (VTA) and Alameda-Contra Costa Transit (AC Transit) buses, as well as taxi and “kiss and ride” passenger drop off areas, all via Warm Springs Boulevard. The new station will also provide approximately 2,000 parking spaces.

Portions of the alignment are being constructed below grade. The below grade segments are being constructed using a cut and cover technique.
