RMA Group recently completed special inspection and materials testing services for new performing arts center buildings at Prospect High School, Westmont High School, Del Mar High School, Branham High School, and Leigh High School in the Campbell Union High School District.  Each building is approximately 9,300 square feet and provides maximum flexibility in function. The theaters are equipped with a combination of permanent and movable seating with flooring platforms allowing for different theater configurations including traditional proscenium style (with and without orchestra pit), black box theater, thrust stage, and a large, open performance space.

Our scope of work consisted of providing special inspection and construction materials testing in accordance with Title 24 and the California Building Code.  Special Inspection included DSA masonry, reinforced concrete, concrete batch plants, and structural steel inspection including shop and field welding, ultrasonic testing of welds, and high strength bolting. Our San Jose laboratory performed tensile and bend testing of reinforcing steel, compression testing of concrete, grout, mortar, and masonry prisms, as well as shear tests on masonry cores.

All five of the projects were constructed concurrently under separate Division of State Architect (DSA) file numbers.  RMA provided cross-trained and multi-certified inspectors that were capable of managing the inspection of multiple, concurrent activities at separate sites to provide an efficient and flexible team capable of responding to the day-to-day needs of the projects while minimizing the overall cost of the inspection program for the district.
